Milner Could Swing Either Way!

James Milner says that he is enjoying his football again since joining Aston Villa on loan last August. Milner was used as part of the deal that saw Nobby Solano return to St James Park, unfortunately we only got the Newcastle player on loan.

Milner said: ‘You can’t really see someone’s best form until they are playing every week,’ after Souness implied Newcastle would win nothing with Milner in the team. ‘I’m doing that now and I’m enjoying my football again. It’s been a great move for me and it feels nice to be contributing to the team.’

With some of the energetic performances the youngster has put in at Villa, many fans would like to see the winger signed up permanently, but with Souness being hounded out of Newcastle, it may become more difficult!

He added: As far I know it is just a loan deal until the end of the season. I don’t know if I will be staying on at Villa or not because that is something that has to be decided between the two clubs. I’d be happy to play wherever. I just have to concentrate on each game for Villa and whatever happens at the end of the season happens. Newcastle are a massive club. They’re a great club to play for and they have a great ground to play at. I love the place, I have a house up there still and who knows what will happen?’

Just as you start to feel uncomfortable he says (!) ‘But Aston Villa are a great club as well. All I can say is that I will continue to play my football to the best of my ability and see what happens in the summer.’

Milner joined Newcastle when Sir Bobby bought him from Leeds United for £3.6million in 2004, however he failed to cement a regular starting place, especially under Souness who didn’t consider the player ready for regular Premiership football.

Milner said: ‘I have proved I am good enough to play regularly in the Premiership. I firmly believe I am good enough, I am showing that at Aston Villa and it is nice to be proven right. I have played well over 100 games in the Premiership and that in itself shows I must be doing something right. But I can’t worry about what is going on in the future, just what I am doing now.’
