As we reported earlier, Villa look set to sign 29-year-old Egyptian right winger (I mean he plays on the right wing, not that he`s a Farage!) Ahmed Elmohamady in next 48 hours.

Here are a few early reactions:

Thomas Holte posted: “I’ve just read on Twitter Elmohamady will be our first Egyptian since Nigel Sphinx”

Deanovilla said: “I’m worried Bruce is signing him on the form he saw 4-5 years ago (and even then I doubt he was ever Villa quality). Big headed maybe but surely what we expect of our players at Villa is bigger than what Hull fans would be happy with?!?” Adding, “Really underwhelming signing for me.”

Villan57 said: “Just what we need another right wing back fullback type to join the other half a dozen we already have FFS”

Fulford: “A waste of £1m. We can’t get rid of our rubbish but always seem keen to pick up everyone else’s.”

Stephen Jay Hawkins added in the Forum Thread:

“I trust Steve Bruce to know who he’s signing and for what reasons. He knows what it takes to get out of the Championship.”

Thomas Holte also posted: “Agbonlahor, Gardner, Richards, Bacuna and now Elmohamady. Sometimes a manager not only lives and survives by his signings and what he can get out of them he also does the same with the players he wants to keep in his squad and play. The above is just asking for trouble Steve. We can see it why can’t you?”
