Vital Villa asked, following newspaper talk of a Swedish consortium headed by Sven’s agent Athole Still, whether you would welcome the former England manager as Villa boss.

Would Sven Be Welcome At Villa?

Only 5% said no and 0% said no due to the risk of away fan abuse.

5% said he would be welcome because he has a good club record.

The only two options were split down the middle.

45% said only Martin O’Neil would do and 45% said Sven would be welcome, but only if he had big money backers.

One nice thing is I’ve been told, Sven loves Villa Park and it is one of his favourite football grounds, so the man has some taste!

The comments to my original article have a mix of views, here are just a few.

I would welcome Sven. He has a pedigree that can’t be ignored or denied. He has had more success in the domestic game, in various leagues, then O’Neill. He would be able to attract the bigger names to the club, O’Neill is only well known in the UK. still skeggy

if we cant have o’neill ill settle for sven…like you say, his record is second to none,i think he would attract the higher profile players. JASON

it would be nice to see Beckham in claret and blue as well ! bobbyfett

Actually his record is second to Murinios but that’s just me being picky. I would like to see Sven at VP in the long term but I don’t think he’s the right man to get the best out of the players we have, with the obvious exception of the true quality we have at VP. As with most others, I still want O’Neill but Sven would be a fantastic alternative (I prefer not to say second choice as for some clubs I think Sven would be better but O’Neill is best for VP) Villain Of The North

Sven has no passion, we need someone who is gonna be on the touch line yelling ,he is all about the money. samtozer

Not thrilled by the prospect and rumours of him moving to Villa Park. I wouldnt want him, but then again I have no say in the matter. I think he’s over-rated. I dont think much of him as a coach, and his man-management skills are virtually non-existant. Put me down as a no, a definite no no. glensider
