Money, money, money.

The Americans are coming we all cheered! Happy days are here again we sang. Doug wasn’t carried out in a box and he who constantly uttered, ‘I’ve got a honest bunch of lads’ left, taking a big wad of cash with them.

We complained about the cash but good riddance, and the new incumbent had plenty of it. We all prayed it would go through smoothly and quickly so money would be available for transfers before the end of the August deadline. Alas, we had to wait but good things come to them that do. We all now look forward to the January transfer window where we can at last compete in the transfer market. Of course Mr O’Neill is savvy enough to know that if we can maintain a high league position we have a better chance of attracting quality players.

Fans on this forum have also discussed the importance of ensuring the stadium is filled so that players will see this and want to play in front of a full-house. It also goes to say we are not a London club and so are not as attractive in this respect.

Up to recently it was us, and only us, that had the feeling of being let lose in a sweet shop with the promise of filling our pockets. But now some other kids from West Ham, Newcastle and even Liverpool may have a bit of pocket money.

Should these takeovers take place is anyone concerned that we might be competing for the same type of players, in a limited January market, and that other clubs may appear more attractive than ours?
