Looks like Moore trouble for Aston Villa as Luke Moore’s agent says the player is worried having been frozen out of the team.

In an article by Bill Howell (you know the one, evil local reporter who single handedly ruined David O’Leary’s season, excuse number 28972 I believe) of the Birmingham Mail runs a story today saying that the 20-year-old is concerned about next season.

Moore was dropped for the last six games despite the fact he was the joint top Premiership scorer (with Milan Baros) at the time. Now he wants to make sure that he won’t face the same again next season, especially as O’Leary is hoping to find a target man to play up front (which makes you question why he sold Peter Crouch for just £2million?) with Baros (if he isn’t sold – which we all know he will be) or Angel (if he doesn’t leave, which we all suspect he will!!).

Of bigger concern for Luke must be the fact that Gabriel Agbonlahor seemed to have leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

The Birmingham Mail say that Moore was off to Glasgow last summer but Doug made a late offer to stop him leaving. He was also linked to Chris Coleman at Fulham.

Moore’s agent, Steve Kutner, told the Mail:

‘We need to know Aston Villa’s plans for Luke but it is very difficult for us to do anything because of all the uncertainty at the club.’

‘Luke is Villa through and through. In an ideal world he would remain there forever and be their striker. But if O’Leary says he is not going to be his number one next year he may decide to go elsewhere. Luke is going on holiday and when he comes back hopefully the club will have sorted everything out. Then I have to speak to David, who has been very honest with me in the past, and find out what his plans are for Luke.’

Moore got 8 Premiership goals and made 16 starts as well as 11 sub appearances.

  • Dont know what to make of this one…he seems to be getting a bit carried away with himself in my opinion. I thought DOL was right to leave him out and give him a kick up the backside, plus the emergance of Gabby did start to show up some of his latter pe

  • Lets face it, O’Leary’s man management skills are none existent, that’s the real reason that Moore is getting worried, he has no faith in the manager (but then there are very few that do)

  • FFS, the guy is 20 years old!!!! These agents fill their heads with total crap and in doing so often ruin their careers at the very top. Luke is not yet the finished article, far from it, and cannot expect to play week in week out just yet. He should list

  • Looks like another one of our best players is going. And you can bet he will come back to haunt us.

  • Good call Bobbymsb. Who of our squad are Villa through and through?? Moore, Hendrie, Barry, Gabby and Angel. With the exception of Gabby – they could all be gone by next season!! O’Leary wants hunger from players – surely these guys have that!!

  • cannot have an agent demanding his player be the”number one”,he is 20 years old, he played well in fits and starts last season (As many players did). Not the type of player we need to lose agreed, but he has a lot to prove to become an established premiers

  • I tend to agree with Aronno7, in that I think Luke lost his way, maybe thought that he’d made it. He was turning in some very lack-lustre performances though. As Beovilla rightly said, he’s only 20 years old, still very wet behind the ears, looking to run

  • If O’Leary wanted experience up front for the last two games why did he keep playing Gabby.

  • I didnt claim to understand O’Leary’s thinking just suggested what might be floating around that vacant space between his ears
