Stephen Jay Hawkings:

Well his record at this level speaks for itself, and I genuinely like him. I think it’s been too early to judge him as a manager at Villa, too much rebuilding and stopping the rot. It’s next season where we can really evaluate him, and I hope he can deliver. Tired of constantly changing managers.

I’m worried. Think the tactics at times after he took over were strange, especially that spell in January and after. Not yet seen the team functioning really well. Think we should have seen more even allowing for bedding in. I hope he succeeds and that we storm out of the blocks this season, but we can’t go too long with performances not up to scratch.

I like Bruce. He’s a real football guy and a steady hand which I think we needed at the time. I think he came in and did what could have been asked. Disappointing we had that dreadful new year period which eventually cost us a challenge for play offs. Times I have questioned him like with his tactics and players out of position but I think every manager in Villa history I have. I think he is the right man and needs to be given time. It was a huge rebuilding job at Villa.

Ted Underhill

It’s horses for courses. He’s ideal for the immediate job ahead. Knows how to get a team promotion and then solidify in the premiership. If then we move on to want a stab at top six then I think we will have to look elsewhere
