It’s being reported that Remi Garde has now withdrawn from television duties implying a decision is close on his arrival at the club and Dwight Yorke has now said he’s ‘deadly serious’ about his interest in the job and apparently Sir Alex believes he’ll make a good manager.

Beginning with Garde and the only sensible part of this article.

The front runner for the job is said to be very keen on taking up the role but there is a certain amount of doubt given the fact their clubs don’t want to release Gerard Baticle, Bruno Genesio and Robert Duverne, and Garde is said to be insistent a deal is based on them joining him.

The whole thing does seem to twist on whether we can agree a deal with Lyon and Metz for their services, but if he has pulled out of the television work for this weekend that would imply ‘talks’ are now advancing on a solution.

We’ll have to see what the weekend and early next week brings.

As for the continuing saga of Yorke’s celebrity lifestyle in the press when it comes to the job, the Birmingham Mail now carry quotes from him saying that Sir Red Nose of the Ferguson is backing his bid for the role.

‘Sir Alex has spoken to me and given me his backing, he believes I can do it. Despite him releasing me from United, we have always remained on good terms and I am an ambassador for the club. If I was such the bad boy people have made out, I am sure that would not be the case. I have done all my coaching badges at Manchester United and St George`s Park. I`m convinced I could guide Villa up the table.’

Get to feck continues to be my first thought.

My second thought is whatever anybody thinks of SirAlex as a manager, he doesn’t seem to have the best track record – the Big Eck recommendation, David Moyes for his old job?

I seriously doubt it’d be third time lucky with Yorke.

Andy Gray believes he could do it as well, but there was a caveat – not on his own.

So how about, not at all?
