John Terry has denied claims that he has encouraged Jack Grealish to make the move to Chelsea, and has called on our no.10 to remain at Villa Park.
Responding to a post on the club’s official Instagram account confirming James Chester as the club’s new captain, JT said:
“Congrats Skip @jameschester23 delighted your staying mate we need you. And just to clarify I haven’t had any conversations with Chelsea regarding Jack. We all know he is good enough to play in the Premier League but we all want to see him do that with @avfcofficial. Come on boys good luck this season UTV.”
Fans on Twitter were all delighted that the former defender set the record straight:
Music to our ears….

Some are still hoping to see the 37-year-old in the claret and blue again:
WE NEED YOU?? Does that suggest he’s back at villa?

The Sun story that originally indicated that Terry would approve of Jack moving to the Blues was a flimsy one at best. Mike McGrath’s “exclusive” was four short paragraphs with very little substance to it.
It seems that Tottenham are the only club who have made contact about the midfielder, going by Steve Bruce’s comments today, but they have yet to make an acceptable bid. We’ll see if that changes over the next week or so.
