Full focus is on the final weeks of the season in the Sky Bet Championship and how Villa are going to do in the race for the play-offs.

However, at the back of our minds now is the transfer window and it certainly promises to be an exciting one regardless of what division we are in.

That said, then, it is interesting to note the comments of one player set to come in in the summer – though we are already familiar with him – and that’s Frederic Guilbert.

The right-back was signed in the January window before heading back to Caen on loan and he has admitted that he has been abused at times by some of his own fans for that.

He said via France Bleu:

“Now some criticisms are sometimes abusive

“After signing for Aston Villa, I can understand, and many people say that ‘he has his mind elsewhere’. I knew that these things were going to be said when I signed for Aston Villa.

“I am concerned by the club at more than 1000%. My head is not at Aston Villa.”

This is a shame, but it might well show he is mentally strong to head back and deal with such issues.

We need players like that next season and I hope he can be a success here.
