Newcastle Lay Out Emery’s Villa Task – Match Stats

|

Well, after the highs and jubilation of seeing the last experiment walk out the door after a series of failures, life for Aston Villa caretaker gaffer Aaron Danks could not have got off to a better start as we comfortably put Brentford to the sword in a 4-0 victory.

Villa then announced the appointment of former Arsenal and Valencia gaffer Unai Emery, and Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United showed just how much work Emery has to do to get this group back on track.

A poor first half saw Danks make numerous tweaks at the half time break (that to his credit he admitted simply did not work), and ultimately our seriously poor showing resulted in a comprehensive 4-0 battering.

Few, if any, positives to take from that one, but at least Emery will know exactly what he is walking into when he takes charge properly in the coming days.

It will be interesting to see who shows a proper reaction and can get back to their best form, as managers and head coaches aside, some of these players should be taking a serious look at themselves as well.
