Parma are interested in signing Birkir Bjarnason, according to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com).

The Italian club are now back in the top flight after having to make their way through the divisions following their bankruptcy in 2015. They are now seeking to bolster their squad for next season.

Bjarnason is reportedly one of the names on the Serie A side’s list of targets. He has experience of playing in Italy before with Sampdoria and during two spells at Pescara.

In the early part of last season, our no.20 struggled for game time under Steve Bruce, but he had managed to re-establish himself in the manager’s first team plans before the end of the campaign.

He did remain an unused substitute in the playoff final, and the fact that he isn’t seen as an indispensable first-team player could lead to the player being sold.

The Icelandic international only joined from Basel 18 months ago, but with the club under pressure to sell players, it’s likely that an offer from Parma will be considered if one is made.
