Following on from the loan signings of Ryan Bertrand and Grant Holt, manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that he has a numbers of irons in the fire in terms of potential new recruits for the squad, but he has rubbished suggestions that we are after midfielder Lewis Holtby from Tottingham.
The 23 year old German joined Spurs in the summer for a meague £1.5million so my friend Google tells me, and he’s since played 39 times for them, scoring three times.
I’m not really sure where these links have come from, presumably it’s because he hasn’t figured for Spurs since Boxing Day – until last night of course in their 5-1 loss to Manchester City.
I know little about him but I guess he’s a No 10 as Lambert calls them.
Anyway, there’s no reason to get excited, because it ain’t happening.
‘There’s about 15 things I’m trying to do at the minute. If one comes off the great, if none come off then that’s fine. Lewis Holtby? No, no, no. I’ve not heard that one.’
Who are these 15 things, and more importantly does that include breathing, speaking and remembering what he needs from the shops?
Hopefully it’ll be an interesting final 36 hours or so…we all know we need to strengthen, we all know where we need to strengthen, let’s add to the last two performances and have a signing or two that put a further smile on our faces please.
