No real surprises to read a report by James Nursey in The Mirror is saying we are seeing the end of the John Carew spell at Aston Villa.

The report says that Gerard Houllier will allow Carew to leave and also links us again, as we reported yesterday, with Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz which didn`t exactly go down swimmingly in the forum: Click Here

James says that the 31-year-old Norwegian international striker will not be offered a new deal so can leave on a free in the summer. Be interesting to see if we get shot in the winter to try to command some fee for him?

The report says The forward’s laid-back demeanour and time-keeping has also not gone down well in Houllier’s disciplined training regime.

Something that has confounded a few at the club I believe. Fenerbahce, Fiorentina and Sampdoria, amongst others, have been linked.

The report also says that Santa Cruz is available at a ‘knock down price`. He cost City £17.5m from Blackburn Rovers.

OUR latest poll asks whether you’d renew his contract or not.
