Aston Villa have confirmed that they are looking for a new shirt sponsor but said they weren’t shocked that DWS Investments were ending their association with the club.

Club officials, headed by commercial director Stuart Ryan, are looking for a new sponsor as the current deal finishes at the end of the season.

He he told the official site:

‘This is not a case of DWS pulling the plug on our deal. The initial deal was over a two-year term and that expires at the end of the season. There was an option to extend that deal, but that’s not now beneficial to either DWS or Aston Villa. They are now under new management – Aberdeen Asset Management – and we move on. We’re not in an unusual position. We’re currently one of seven or eight Premiership clubs, including Manchester United, looking for a new shirt sponsorship deal.’

He also says they have already spoken to ‘several interested parties’ although no details have been announced, suggestions from Villa fans included Price Cutter, Poundstretcher, SPAR (Well we are a corner shop), Next to Nothing and Slumberland!
