Great, more good news.
Gareth Barry it seems has not handed in a transfer request, despite reports saying the Villa midfielder wanted out of Villa Park.
Villa have already turned down a bid from Portsmouth and although Spurs manager Martin Jol is said to be interested, it is thought the manager-less (and leadership less!) club aren’t willing to allow him to go.
Caretaker boss Roy Aitken said: ‘I haven’t spoken to Gareth about wanting to leave, but he has shown a commitment to the club which is first-class. He’s virtually played every minute of pre-season and he’s a joy to work with. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were teams looking at Gareth, but he hasn’t rocked the boat with me.’

Gareth’s frustration is probably common to all members of the playing staff. The uncetainty allied to the lack of direction and ambition that the club has been showing is bound to unsettle the players. Hopefully a new manager. plus we trust, new owners an
