The agent of Welsh international Andy King has denied reports that Villa have placed a bid for the highly rated central midfielder.

King made a bit of a name for himself last season, having a remarkable campaign at Leicester. He appeared in all but one match and chipped in with 9 goals as they clinched promotion to the Championship.

In recognition of his development Welsh manager John Toshack also handed him his senior debut last May, and as with all good young talent, we have been linked with a possible £2.5 million move.

Dean Sheehan however has rubbished reports of the former Chelsea trainee making a move this season, saying to Sky Sports News:

‘These stories are complete fabrication, Leicester assure me no bid has been received and no one at Villa has contacted me to see if Andy would even be interested in a move.’

Now we all know the games that agents and clubs play when negotiating deals, however Sheehan whilst being cliched in his message to the Foxes fanbase does seem a bit more genuine than is usual in these circumstances saying:

‘I would like to assure all the Leicester fans that Andy’s immediate response without any hesitation was that he wanted to stay at Leicester, no matter who came in for him. It’s never about money and it’s not about Villa.

‘Andy is extremely settled and is in a good place mentally and physically. He loves the club and the fans and is looking forward to carrying on where he left off last season.’

We all know money speaks and the love of a club matters not in most cases thesedays but when you consider it is likely King would feature in most of Leicester’s games next season I don’t think a move would be on the cards yet. Young and developing, he’s only 20 years old and he’ll want to be playing.

We have Young, Petrov, Downing, Milner, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Gardner, Salifou, Bannan, Albrighton all fighting for 4 spots in midfield – I doubt Kind would join our reserves.

The move only has potential sense IF the rumours of certain midfielders leaving were to turn out to be true. But those rumours keep being denied so who knows.
