Norwich v Villa Wasn’t Great But Smith Doesn’t Have A Magic Wand – Time For The Predictable Meltdown Isn’t It

Aston Villa went into Tuesday evening’s Championship game against Norwich City looking to make it two from two under new head coach Dean Smith.

Having taken a narrow 1-0 victory last weekend over Swansea City as the life-long Villa man took his place in the dugout, Carrow Road was going to be a different kind of test for the boys as we looked for another three points and further improvement in our performance levels.

It was far from a perfect performance again, but everyone knows what Smith is dealing with so we’re looking for small improvements and it looked like we might get them again as James Chester found the back of the net after 19 minutes.

Fans will have their own take on it, but having lost Albert Adomah to a knock and then Tammy Abraham, it went wrong and the hosts levelled and then took the lead.

The match ended 2-1.

The lack of confidence and nervousness given how easily we concede goals is going to take more than one game to turn around and anyone in the backline not 100% at it will be very noticeable. Most accept this will take time, others should stop looking at their watches and thinking it’s a computer game.

We’ll play worse than that and win, we did it regularly last year.
