Martin O’Neill has confirmed that he will be offering new contracts to Olof ‘the might beard’ Mellberg and Thomas ‘can’t think of a nickname’ Sorensen.
In the Birmingham Mail the Villa boss said of the players who both have just one year left on their contracts:
‘I would like to get those done as quickly as possible and I’d like to speak to Olof’s agent and Thomas’ agent too.’
He is also looking to tie up other first teamers to longer deals including striker Luke Moore and midfielder Craig Gardner.
‘I’ve been speaking to Craig Gardner’s father about a new contract and Luke Moore as well. Moore has got two years left but he has triggered off something in his contract that he wants us to have a look at now, which I will do.’
