David O’Leary has told the players ‘You are not too good to go down.’

Lets hope those words are ringing in their ears when they run out this afternoon against Premiership strugglers Portsmouth.

O’Leary said: ‘I want to keep this club safe. The next 11 games will be like FA Cup finals.’

Now lets see the talk on the pitch.

Some good news is Wilfred Bouma might be fit enough to help sort out the defensive crisis.

O’Leary told the official site: ‘He’s been out for a long time, but he looks really sharp in training. He looks really good and if I could have had a reserve game this week, I’d have been shocked if he couldn’t have played the full 90 minutes.’

Come on Villa. 3 points and a few smiles on the fans faces as they leave Villa Park this afternoon.

  • Well 34 ppoints now with 10 games to go, surely we are safe barring a disaster of epic proportions. Now its a case of looking up and trying to improve the transfer budget via the league placing

  • I breathed a sigh of releif at the end of the game, hopefully we can reach total safety soon

  • Well it was indeed three very valuable, much needed points, but I dont think too many supporters exited the stadium with smiles on their faces. Pretty dire stuff.
