NRC Moving To Villa An Easy Choice

Nigel Reo-Coker said, in Aston Villa News & Record, that the Villa fans have yet to see the best of him. The midfielder, who moved from West Ham in the summer, explained:

‘People must understand that there’s a lot more to come from me. At the moment I’m doing the job I’ve been told to do by the manager. I’m sacrificing a bit of my game for the sake of the team and I’m happy to do that as long as we’re winning games. But there’s much more I can offer. I’m really more of an attacking midfielder who can play from box to box but right now I’m playing more of a disciplined role.’

Hokey Cokey also says on the official site following his move, ‘It has been easy to settle here and I think all the new players feel they have settled well because they have been made to feel comfortable and part of the team. I believe the quicker that players are made to feel settled off the field, the quicker they settle on it, but I have also put pressure on myself that it is up to me to settle. From the moment I knew I was coming to Villa, I had already put that pressure on myself to try to make the move as swiftly and as easily as possible.’

And music to the old ears and something maybe Stiliyan Petrov – still settling in apparently? and Shaun Maloney, yet to find a home, should take note of?

‘I didn’t want people to be saying: ‘Give that player a year to settle’. I was moving out of London and I made the decision to leave, so it was up to me to get into the team as possible and I like to think I have done that.’

He also says he is grateful to the fans for the welcome adding, ‘I am not a superstar; I am not a match winner. The likes of Gareth Barry, Patrik Berger, Ashley Young and John Carew are match winners and superstars. I am just trying to play my part in the team.’

He also says that being a player in London can cause many distractions to the choice to move to Villa was an easy one, ‘Coming to such a big club with such a great heritage and to play for one of the best managers in Europe, someone who is so well respected in the game was an easy choice.’
