The Birmingham Mail are reporting that Villa might be after Norwegian defender Vegard Forren. The report says he`s a Brighton & Hove Albion central defender and that the 29-year-old’s contract is about to expire. Worryingly he didn`t play for B&HA at all last season. Wiki explains: Forren signed for Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion on 7 March 2017 until the end of the 2016-17 season
The same report says we have already been linked with several central defenders including Grant Hanley (Newcastle United and Scotland) also backed up in the link in The Mirror, Aden Flint (Bristol City) and Marc Roberts (Barnsley) The Star say that the Barnsley captain would cost Villa around £5million
Where were we? Oh yes, Forren. What worries me is he`s not played since last November for Ole Gunnar Solskjær`s Molde. The Brum Mail suggested Molde would take him back but Ole has ruled that out.
And if you remember, former Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba has spent time at Bodymoor training with Aston Villa last season? Well, according to the same report in the Brum Mail, Bruce has ‘hinted` that he will join the club for pre-season. No harm in that really, see if he can stand up to the rigours of a pre-season, he has no fee attached and I would think the chance to resurrect his career could mean he won`t be demanding massive wages. We have wasted a lot of money over the years on players well past their prime, however if he is fit and able, he always was a solid defender and could prove a relatively cheap stand in for Baker and Chester.

The Birmingham Mail, I can`t see any other papers mentioning it as yet, say that Aston Villa are one of three Championship sides interested in 23-year-old Fleetwood Town left-back Amari’i Bell. I guess at his age you couldn`t write him off really. He was released by Rowett in 2015 but many players blossom following early set backs. However… good grief, Aston Villa linked with a Fleetwood Town player, how the mighty have fallen!
