Oh no! We have avoided the drop.

It’s had time to sink in. Aston Villa will not be relegated this season. Woo-hoo!

The question is…..Why does it not feel like party time?

Is it because we feel that we were too good to go down, and we should not have been down there anyway? I don’t thinks so.

I think it is because we are afraid. Afraid that we are now facing another season of McLeish. You know it, and I know it.

Many words have been used to describe his reign lately, untenable, dead man walking, useless. The fact is that he has achieved the minimum requirement.

Keep us in the division. For this reason alone he will get another season. Already he is describing his plans for next year. Plans that don’t include Carlos Cuellar, who should surely be offered a new deal. His current wage is irrelevant. Offer him what he is now worth as a player. At the moment he is going to be earning nothing nest season. He certainly doesn’t have the option of going back to Rangers. Perhaps he has got an offer from Spain, that we can’t match. Fair enough but the club should be telling us as much.

No doubt Fear will tell me I am wrong, and that he isn`t going. I so hope that is true. {No, can`t tell you that I`m afraid, he is off JF}

Another season of (I’m not a defensive manager – lowest scoring team in the premier league two years running) McLeish will drive more support away, and will only have postponed relegation for a year. Finally, if I am wrong, and he does go, who should replace him? A big name manager will not come now, so who should it be.

Just as England needed an Englishman to come in after Capello, (should have been Pearce though), we need a Villa man to come in and re-unite the club. Someone who knows the true value of the young players at the club, and will continue to support their development.

Time to step up to the plate Gordon Sidney Cowans, your club needs you!
