Well, the sack race seems to be well and truly on and the odds for O’Leary to be first have tumbled from 16/1 a couple of weeks ago to 6/1 now. Villa only have 2 wins in 8 and haven’t recorded back to back wins in 33 attempts. If not for the Blues victory, his position might already have been severely tested.

Ladbrokes had a number of bets placed in the last week, one for £500, and the odds were changed from 7/1 – 6/1 within an hour.

Our relegation odds don’t look great either being cut from 12/1 to 9/1.

His counterpart across the City isn’t fairing any better with Steve Bruce at 9/2 down from 6/1.

They have also been forced to slash the odds on city rival Steve Bruce after Blues surrendered to Blackburn. Bruce is now 9/2 from 6/1.

George Burley has been linked to the Villa hotseat by press reports at the weekend following his resignation at high flying Hearts.
