With last night’s announcement of the loan capture of Dutch international winger Anwar El Ghazi from French Ligue 1 side Lille, it’s fair to say Villa fans were pretty happy.
Earlier in the day Birmingham Mail journalist Gregg Evans tweeted.
#avfc waiting to announce Bolasie and El-Ghazi. Both have agreed to sign. Two new wingers coming in, big boost for Villa. Now for a striker.

With El Ghazi on the being on the button, fans are now waiting for Yannick Bolasie and the unnamed striker – and we can’t forget that speculation is still rife linking us with Southampton left-back Matt Targett.
If these deals come off, given the reactions on social media to the speculation, I think B6 might be an incredibly happy place to be this year – well once you get past the initial sarcasm.
even Bruce is not that stupid! one of em must be a rightback!

Awesome news Gregg. Must be that rubbish manager that convinced them to join us. ????

Unless loan to buy doesn’t count?

Well maybe an incredibly happy place to be was a slight exaggeration given the deep-rooted splits when it comes to manager Steve Bruce and especially his tactics with an overly defensive penchant, but after the summer we’ve had I’ll take any reason to be happy and delighted when it comes to Aston Villa thank you very much.
Bolasie remains a concern for me, but I’m guessing if we do a deal we will have certainly done our due diligence on his fitness and recovery as maybe I’m overly reading into his performances last year as there is a line of thought amongst Everton fans that he rushed back too quickly – if he pulls the shirt on though he gets support.
There is over a week left in the deadline window but let’s hope the rest of the day is busy.
