Martin O’Neill was gutted not to see the team get a well deserved three points against Arsenal today.

He told the official site after the last gasp injury time equaliser by Arsenal:

‘That was a real sickener. We deserved to win the game because we were brilliant all afternoon. We came here and took the game to them. Obviously there were periods during the match when Arsenal had the ball, as they’re entitled to do, but we were absolutely magnificent. Had we seen the game out, I don’t think there’s anybody in the stadium would have thought we didn’t deserve to win it.’

Adding, ‘It says a lot that we’re disappointed coming away from Arsenal with a draw. But eventually the two points might come back to haunt us, hopefully not.’

Meanwhile Arsene Wenger was a relieved man telling Sky Sports:

‘We played a very good Villa side and in the first half you could see there was a hangover from last week, we had not completely recovered and were dominated by them technically and physically. In the second half we came back into it with our mental resources. We battled until the very last second and in the end we got what for me was a very good point. It shows the team never lies down.’

A match report by Glensider should appear (as if by magic) tomorrow…
