It was very refreshing to hear Martin O’Neill speak on Saturday afternoon about the faithful Villa fans who have shown up in record numbers this year to cheer on the mighty Claret and Blue.

In an interview with Tom Ross he said Villa fans had been fantastic this season and that it means a great deal to the players to hear the noise of the claret and blue army.

He also pointed out that although some of our performances have seen real highs this season there have been some he said were less than average to say the least. He went on to compliment the fact that despite some poor showings the fans still turned up in numbers the following week mentioning the games v Middlesbrough and Sunderland in particular.

Now Villa seem to have got over their wobble, which unfortunately has probably/possibly/definitely cost us the chance of 4th or 5th (I’ve covered my bases for opti’s, pessi’s and realists with the options there, delete as appropriate!), Villa seem to have regained their confidence and momentum and could well end the season in storming fashion. With just the blues, Everton, Wigan and West Ham to play, who knows we might be treated to a series of wins to end the season well and set us up for a good summer of spending.
