Martin O’Neill has said he is happy with the away day results at Villa but worries we’ve picked up too many draws at home.

‘People talk about the fact we’ve had a lot of draws on the road but the fact is that we’ve been beaten once in the league on our travels and that was at Anfield. You’ve got to remember we’ve been to places like Stamford Bridge, the Emirates Stadium, Goodison and Fratton Park. We’ve been here, there and everywhere and we’re picking up points on a regular basis.’

And having seen Villa slip up on the chance to go third he says ‘Remarkably, if we could have turned some of our home draws into victories, we’d be in a very decent position. But, on the whole, I can have no complaints about the side this season.

‘At the moment, I feel we are a wee bit short but the players who have come in have done splendidly well. They have risen to the occasion and have done fantastically well. I can have no complaints because they have done their utmost.’
