Villa legend Ian Taylor is hanging up his boots on Friday.

The 38-year-old former Villa midfielder ends his 15 year footballing career with a proud record of 550 games and 100 goals (255 games and 43 goals for Villa in a spell between 93/03).

They don’t make them like ‘our’ Ian Taylor anymore! Villa fans have declared it Ian Taylor day and are going to Northampton Town (v Huddersfield) on Friday to give him a big send off.

Now that IS a player who should have had a proper testimonial when leaving Villa. The fans managed to give him a send off in a ‘testimonial evening’ but the club were very sadly lacking.

  • ANy chance of speaking to Randy and the General and getting a proper testimonial sorted out for our Tails? It’s never too late!

  • I am sure if we all make a request to the general we may get somewhere, now this is one Villa player who does deserve it.

  • Have to say he was favourite player of recent times, by some distance. A young Taylor is just what we need now!

  • Screw Hendrie, give this legend a testomonial, he is a man that really deserves one. I would have no problem lining this mans pockets for one night and giving him the send off he deserves. VP Would be packed aswell no doubt. Come on Randy what do you think?

  • Jon what do you think about putting it to Mr. Fitzgerald over another steak and seven stacked chips?????????

  • I’m there (at a Taylor Testimonial that is). VP Legend. Holte End Hero. Villa through and through and we loved him for it. Would LOVE to go on Friday but got other commitments. One Ian Taylor. There’s only one Ian Taylor. One Ian Taylor.

  • We should be getting Ian on the staff, I don’t know what his plans are. He a great leader on the field, I’ll never forget that cup game away at the Hammers, truly majestic.

  • His ‘roll up your sleeves and die for the cause’ attitude would have won over the VP supporters in no time, even forgetting the fact that he truly was one of us. Good luck I.T., no matter where your future path leads you.

  • It does not get better than seeing a villa fan out on the pitch. Thought he left villa to soon. Thankd Ian and good luck.
