The performance by on-loan Tottenham Hotspur youngster Josh Onomah in our victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend saw the midfielder come in for good praise.

It’s fair to say the 20-year-old has had a mixed season with us. With four goals to his name in 34 appearances, some matches have shown his quality but he has been anonymous in others. It’s the nature of the beast as he develops and plenty of fans haven’t been shy in suggesting we should’ve been giving our own youngsters more minutes as opposed to persevering with him.

His showing against Ipswich was certainly one of his better games though, and as we picked up our third victory on the spin as we head to the close of the 2017/18 Championship campaign, Onomah’s individual performance that saw two assists not only won him words of kindness from the fanbase, he was also acknowledged by the EFL who named him in their Team of the Week.

James McKeown (Grimsby), Tim Ream (Fulham), Conor Coady (Wolves), Dan Burn (Wigan), Jevani Brown (Cambridge), Josh Onomah (Villa), Bradley Dack (Blackburn), Daniel Powell (Northampton), Fernando Forestieri (Sheff W), Theo Robinson (Southend), Marc McNulty (Coventry).

Manager – John Coleman (Accrington).

A few more showings akin to that between now and the end of the season certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
