Ooohhhhh, the Hokey-Cokey…

I had written us off. I had explained to the the good few Liverpool fans at work, that Aston Villa would get trounced tonight, as happens so often at Anfield.

Apart from the first ten or fifteen minutes, I couldn’t have been proven more wrong by our lads. One, as the title hints at, was monumental.

Reo-Coker has been waylaid over the last eighteen months or so at Villa Park and a few thought he could even leave in the summer. Tonight he was first to absolutely everything, beating the Liverpool players to the ball by inches, then driving on after that.

That’s the sort of athleticism and dynamism we were missing in the final third of last season. He may not be the best footballer technically, but he more than makes up for it in work-rate, strength and pace. The pressure he put on the Liverpool players was immense. His work for the penalty was top class in my opinion.

Two poor results, one brilliant result. We need some more bodies still, but I reckon we have, in Reo-Coker, someone who is as good as a new signing.
