Jack Grealish could be out for two to three months after undergoing surgery following the hit he took in last weekend’s friendly against Watford.

Having been substituted in the first half of the Graham Taylor memorial game, Grealish was taken to hospital and the Birmingham Mail confirmed last night that the freak injury left the 21 year old requiring a kidney operation and he could now be missing for upwards of three months of the new campaign.

The Mail quoted his father Kevin from a facebook post where he passed on a message from Jack.

‘Absolutely devastated…got a nasty elbow to the stomach in yesterday’s game which caused a bleed in my kidney. Had a mini op early this morning and will now be out for at least 2-3 months. Gutted as season was about to start next week but will be doing everything to come back fitter and stronger. Upthevilla.’

Get well soon Jack and hopefully when you return you can make up for lost time and have a real impact in making this a successful season for all associated with the club.

A submission emailed to JF and passed to me.

His dad, Kevin, has facebooked the following message from Jack:

Shame, he looked lively on Saturday and we didn’t appear quite so attacking after he came off.

Wishing you all the best Jack, hopefully your recovery will be quicker than expected.
