According to the Mirror, Aston Villa are interested in Ryan Cassidy. Watford’s ‘highly-rated’ centre-forward has been full of goals for the u18s and could have a bright future ahead of himself. The young striker signed from St. Kevins Boys in July 2017 and reportedly netted 25 goals for the Hornets’ youth sides last season.

Villa have stiff competition to procure Cassidy’s signature, however, with Everton and Derby County keen on prizing the teenager away from Watford. An Eredivisie side want a permanent move, while clubs from the Football League are keen on loaning the striker, but Watford are desperate to tie Cassidy down to a long-term deal before considering a temporary move away.

With Everton manager Marco Silva keen on the forward after watching him during his time in charge of Watford, it’s hard to see Villa edging their way in ahead of the Toffees. Troy Deeney believes Cassidy could rise through the youth ranks to the first-team in the near future. It’s unknown if official bids will be lodged for the striker this month, however, but Villa might be the ones to miss out.
