With West Bromwich Albion seemingly imploding following our victory in the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final stage last season as Aston Villa consigned them to a second season in the second tier, we have now rather predictably been linked with striker Jay Rodriguez.
The ‘hand’ scored 22 times in 2018/19 and is obviously a key player for them, but it seems their Board may have made a whoopsie according to our friends over at Vital Baggies and if that speculated contract change is accurate from the Telegraph, he’d absolutely be a bargain at £5million.
The Mirror’s live transfer blog on Wednesday listed Villa as potentially having an interest at that price, but expectedly the likes of Leicester City, Norwich City and Sheffield United are all tagged with an interest too.
He’s not everyone’s favourite striker given his antics against us, but I can’t be the only one who would see the sense in this.
1 – It would annoy the hell out of our local rivals.
2 – Good Premier League experience for 12 months.
3 – Almost instant double profit at £5m.
4 – We would complete the bargain transfer fee hattrick (Jota Birmingham, Hause Wolves).
If we pulled this off I’d go full Kevin Keegan as I’d ‘love it’.
