Out Of The Relegation Zone But Villa Fail To Capitalise Against West Ham – Match Stats

|

After the first dull and boring international break, real football returned for September earlier this evening as we welcomed West Ham United to Villa Park, and Aston Villa’s only aim on the night was to take another three points and our second Premier League victory of the 2019/20 campaign.

It was definitely a lively first half and although the wannabee Villans had more of the ball, the better chances fell our way and we really should’ve gone into the half time break with the narrow advantage.

The less said about Anwar El Ghazi antics with Tyrone Mings, the better though.

The second half was certainly a lively and end to end affair, but again the better chances went our way, we just couldn’t convert them. In many ways, the game became more difficult when West Ham were reduced to ten men as they sat deeper, but I think most fans will again be happy with the positives on show, the improvements – but the caveat remains, we can still (and must) do better.

But again, we more than competed and not for the first time this season, the final scoreline could have been different.
