OUT, OUT, OUT, ALL OUT

So, Solano wants out. Liverpool’s overtures have unsettled him and he has obviously – like so many before him – realised at Villa they make grand promises but they don’t follow them up. He was one of the first to say how pleased he was that Villa were going to spend this summer, he will now have seen – like us fans – that the board have once again made mugs of us all and that they don’t follow up on their promises and he will realise he is at a club that is, at best, treading water.

And no, the signing of Baros will not be enough to make me or anyone else retract the sort of statement made above. We have bought two older players – both out injured, as they were for much of their last few seasons, and one utility defender on the cheap. Hughes may well become a great bargain, he looks a very good player to me, but £1million players do not justify the boasts at the beginning of the summer promising ‘significant funds’. The board are moribund and should leave, they can’t control the maniac in charge and aren’t willing to do the decent thing like Langham.

I hope the fans don’t turn on Nobby, he came here with big promises, his goals last year helped us steer clear of relegation trouble and he wants to see out his career at a club who give a damn. I can see nothing wrong with that, can you?

Anyway, according to Sky Sports, Solano is going to try to ‘engineer a move’. I have a feeling this situation could be the straw that breaks the managers back as well because, from memory, he asked the board to sort out the Solano contract situation. Solano now has just one season left on his contract and it seems obvious, if he isn’t allowed to move for a fee now, he will leave on a free next summer. Incompetence is the word that springs to mind. Still, the muppets will tell you were aren’t Leeds.

30 year old Nobby said ‘It’s Liverpool, it’s not just any team that is interested in me. It’s the team that has won the last Champions League and will surely fight for the title in The Premier League. I am under contract at Aston Villa until May so to make them let me go I am going to ask for a two-year deal and that will make them let me go because the club doesn’t want that. On the other hand, I am proud that Aston Villa doesn’t want to let me go because that means you have done your work correctly. In addition to that maybe the officials don’t want to have problems with the supporters because I had been chosen as the best player of the team last season. Besides all this, I have to sit down and have a conversation with the coach David O’Leary and tell him that this is a nice opportunity for me and my career. Maybe that will convince him to let me go.’

He is also quoted as saying: ‘It is fantastic when a big club comes in for a player,’ So we are no longer a big club. Lets face it, he is right. Mark Laurenson the other day was talking about mid table clubs, he mentioned clubs like Charlton, Birmingham and Villa. Makes you angry, but you can’t argue with it. What have we won recently? Exactly. Hurts doesn’t it?

He continues: ‘Ask any player in the world if they would love to play for a big club, and everyone would love to. I won’t say ‘no, I don’t want to go to Liverpool’ because they are a big club who want to challenge to win titles, and any player would love to go to Liverpool. If you ask any player what they would do if a big club came in for them – Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool – everybody would love to go there.’

DOL has said Nobby isn’t for sale but that Liverpool have got good taste. We’ll see. When a player wants out, he usually gets out. If not we’ll have another unhappy player on our hands.
