So, news just in really from the Paul Lambert press conference.

I typed it into the forum as it went on… see: Click Here

And also interesting comments about Martin O`Neill: Interesting – Lambert Took O’Neill Advice On Villa

So, he first off thanked the Norwich fans and then said it was all attention to Villa now.

Paraphrased, some direct quotes, I typed as quickly as I could!

Paul Lambert: He wants to make Villa as successful as he can, he needs the massive fan base to drive them on.

Paul Faulkner was asked re: money.

Said “squad got to be made ready for pre-season and certainly start of season.

Money available. Some players he is sure will also leave.

He isn’t going to give a number to the press.

Smart moves, freshen squad, help the quys already here, give Paul the tools he needs.”

Paul F confirms Lambert was number one target (asked about Ole)

He says wanted to take time, speak to a number of managers, a lot of it remained confidential, some didn’t ‘unfortunately’ but once we met Paul it was totally clear he was the man for Villa.

Lambert he says recognised the potential at Villa.

Paul was absolutely top of the list and we are thrilled he is here

Back to Paul Lambert:

Paul Lambert asked re: backroom staff… says that is for another day. Got to get started himself.

Huge huge club. Excited. Tradition etc

This club has got everything going for it.

Asked about fans…

Got to get fans excited, got to give them something. We need them, the players will need them, I’ll certainly need them.

It is up to us to give them something back.

what excites about coming?

Not going to shy away from the expectations, there is pressure to get results and that is what I’m goign to try to do

AND want to play football the right way that is right for this football club and we can win more than not we will get the fans behind us.

SPOKE to MON and MON was complimentary about the club.

Asked about Holt.

Laughed at the tweeting thing by the player.

He hasn’t given thought yet re: transfers. Had a chat with CEO and Chairman and now has to start targeting transfers.

Lambert asked about disappointment on having to quit.

Paul said he had his reasons that will remain private.

Just glad to be at Villa now. that chapter is done, 3 incredible years, will never be forgotten (and earlier had thanked their fans for being brilliant)

Wishes Norwich the best of luck and that it is a fabulous club but now he has a duty to drive this club on and together with the fans he will give it a good go.
