Pen To Paper Today?

Looks like Villa are about to do the right thing and tie Steven Davis to a long term deal with vastly improved wages for the 20 year old midfielder who has become a virtual ever present in the midfield this year.

Reports on the official site suggest the Northern Ireland international will put pen to paper on a new deal today.

O’Leary said: ‘The player wants to sign here. He’s looking for more money – rightly so – and the player has told me he wants his agent to conclude the deal for him on Monday.’

Adding:

‘He’s on a very small figure and we’re trying to get that up to a decent figure. I hope it can be done and we can bring it up. We’re not talking about a drastic amount.’

The effort is being made so that Villa don’t lose the player following increased links to both Manchester United and Arsenal.
