Penalty Miss, Midfielder Scores Again – Interesting Night For Aston Villa In The Cup

|

Aston Villa took to the pitch earlier this evening in the first round of the 2018/19 EFL Cup as we made the trip to Huish Park to face Yeovil Town.

Manager Steve Bruce did go for a more youthful element when it came to his starting eleven and we saw goalkeeper Andre Moreira for the first time, and he was joined by Axel Tuanzebe, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Andre Green and Rusian Hepburn-Murphy following his recent substitute showings in the Championship.

James Bree will feel unlucky to have missed out and taken a spot on the substitutes bench alongside Harry McKirdy.

The game was far from plain sailing though, we may have dominated chances and efforts on the day, but Yeovil asked a question of Moreira from 12 yards but thankfully he was up to task as we avoided going behind to a penalty and they also had a goal ruled out.

Bottom line was we won, and that’s what matters at this stage of the tournament and our youngsters would’ve benefited even if they’d have hoped for better on a personal front.

A win is a win as they say.
