Stiliyan Petrov has revealed that he is in the final phase of contract negotiations with the Villa and expects the matter be sorted out within a few weeks.

The 29 year old double Player of the Year said to the Express and Star that his latest talks have gone well.

‘It’s been going well. I think we’re in the final phase now.

‘Things could happen in the next few weeks. We are nearly there, I can say that.’

I hope it sorted out sooner rather than later, Mr O’Neill has additional homework to do in the transfer market this summer!

  • Great News…Now if gareth can just do the same and you can bring in Zhirkov, Lescott, Vermalen, Hangeland, Llorente, Wagner Love, Delph, Barnes, Pennant, Johnson…We would have a 25% chance of breaking that top 4, LOL

  • Think Sturridge is a dead cert, he is a Villa fan available on a free in the summer…………wonder why Petrov’s contract talks have been going on so long.

  • I will not be happy until he has signed on the dotted line. He has been brilliant this season. When he was the holding man in a 3 man midfield I would even say he was one of the best players in the League.
