Petrov – The Best Is To Come

Stiliyan Petrov has told the Daily Record that the best is yet to come for Villa. Phew, that is a relief!

Petrov joined at the end of the summer transfer window last year and after a dazzling debut at West Ham, seemed to fade. However if he is now fit, up to speed and ready for the rigours of the Premeriership, we could have a gem. Anymore of the anonymous performances of last season though, and questions are bound to be asked, he wasn’t exactly cheap at around £8million and Celtic fans appear to agree that he is a very in-and-out of form type of player.

The 28-year-old Bulgarian international said:

‘I have a clear head now and things have calmed down. When I first came here I had a lot of things in my head. There was the move from Celtic, the fall-out with the national team coach and my wife was expecting our baby son so a lot of things came all at once.’

‘The Bulgaria incident was a big thing for me, as was the move from Parkhead, and all these things were going through my mind so I wasn’t really focused – everything was happening. But I’ve had a great summer, spending time with friends and family and I’m working really hard and I’m looking forward to my football.’

Adding, ‘I’m at Aston Villa to help my team-mates and make the fans happy – that’s the main thing. Every player tries to be consistent and that’s what I try to do but if I’m going to show it, then we’ll show it as a team as well.’
