Petrov Wants To Pleasure Us

Now now everybody calm down, this isn’t over 18 stuff. Stan Petrov is just looking forward to making us fans happy for the next few years!

Speaking on the official site after signing his shiny new 4 year contract earlier this morning, the Bulgarian international paid tribute to the club for the manner in which the contract negotiations were handled and stated that O’Neill is determined to improve on this season to boot.

‘I am delighted. It feels great. We’ve been talking about the contract for quite a few months and I’ve had a lot of people asking me about it.

‘But I am really happy with the way the club handled it all. They left me to concentrate on the games and focus my mind on playing football.

‘After a few meetings, everything has now been finalised and, in all honesty, I never had any doubts about it.’

With the continued media speculation surrounding Gareth Barry, and our obvious failure to guarantee him Champions League football next season, one priority for Stan was always going to be are the club going to improve and challenge for the top honours.

This is even more evident now we will be without Martin Laursen.

‘When we started talking, the club assured me it was looking to build and become even more successful. That was enough for me.’

We all have our own idea of what success is, but I certainly hope this means next season we will have a squad who is capable of fighting on 4 fronts and one which doesn’t need to prioritise.

‘But I am sure I made the right decision. I am hoping to make the Villa fans very happy in the years to come.’

We are hoping you make us very happy as well Stan. The start of his claret and blue career wasn’t exactly something we want to remember but we saw enough flashes to know there was a player in there.

This year we found him and if we can keep that Petrov we’ll be laughing.

That said, it’s a bit late now if he has doubts – the contracts sealed!
