Sky Sports are claiming that the new Sunderland manager Niall Quinn is interested in taking former partner and current Villa striker Kevin Phillips back to Sunderland.

Quinn said: ‘I made an enquiry about Kevin but then the Aston Villa situation blew up in the air and all bets were off. It is something we might revisit once the new manager gets in there because he might come in and want to change things around.’

Can’t think of anything else to say, with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Luke Moore coming on leaps and bounds, the move might make sense for Phillips?!

  • Yes I agree, we got Kevin Phillips at least 3 years too late. The move would make sense for us for Sunderland and Kevin Phillips. He could drop down a league and become a superstar, again.

  • Only if we can get a replacement in before the transfer window closes. If not we can hang on to him until January and he can go then.

  • As they have just sold Fans favourite Arca to Middlesvilla, I guess he will be pushing hard to bring back a cult hero

  • The move would probably suit KP, thats if he favours dropping out of the premiership. Having said that, I’m inclined to say we should keep him. As things stand at B6 right now, with no chance of new signings suddenly walking theough the entry door, I firm

  • Unless we get new players in, then he needs to stay. We can’t afford to lose any numbers from the squad. However, I think he’s a bit past his best, so if he can add another striker to the squad, he can go IMO

  • keep him – he will not generate much cash at all to sell and if we get a long term injury to an experienced striker (baros or JPA) we could end up really needing super kev.
