Phillips Wants Improvements

In an interview with the Midlands Express and Star, Phillips has agreed our home form is a worry and wants to see an immediate improvement tonight so as not to provide a repeat of last years Leauge Cup exit at the hands of Burnley.

Phillips says: ‘It’s generally the home form which sees you through a season, but we’ve been disappointing. There have been too many times we’ve sent supporters home disappointed. That’s something we’ve got to address and I’m sure the manager will try and do something about it.’

Adding that there can be no excuses:

‘There are no excuses. We’ve played together a few times now and it’s just not happening. You have days like Saturday, whereas last week everything happened for us. We dominated the first half and had three or four great chances which, if we’d taken them, the game would have been well and truly dead. So we’ve only got ourselves to blame.’

‘After last week, everyone was on a high and now it feels like the end of the world, but that’s football. Saturday’s game is finished. We’ve got to learn from it. We’ve got an important game tomorrow and hopefully we can put in a decent performance.’

Amen to that. A good performance tonight and a win at the weekend and all will be forgotten.
