Wow, it seems that new owners might, in fact, be just like buses according to a recent report from France which claims that Aston Villa is ‘ripe’ for a takeover and potentially of interest to Paris Saint-Germain’s owners.

I’m really not sure why this has sort of gained traction online but it made me giggle.

The original claim, such as you can call it that, comes from Le Parisien and the gist of it is basically that Qatar Sport Investments, the owner of PSG and chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaifi are supposed to be interested in purchasing AS Roma.

The interest is real according to them, despite denials from the current owners, but given the company already have interest in the United Kingdom, the report then bizarrely states that the groups’ real target could lie on our shores and isn’t actually Roma.

Namely, strong brand clubs and they propose the examples of Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa (European history) and Queens Park Rangers (they are in London) as being ripe for takeovers.

So that makes perfect sense doesn’t it?

Now I’m assuming plenty has been lost in translation here and then simply elaborated on by others who have rehashed the claims without actually bothering to look into them. But it’s the most novel piece of utterly invented nonsense that I’ve seen lately.

As we know Villa have recently been taken over, and so have Forest.

But hey ho, I thought it was hysterical even though it’s clearly ballcocks. I look forward to eagerly awaiting the rehash that states Melchester Rovers are now on the list.
