Albert Adomah has been linked with a move to Newcastle in recent days, although the Birmingham Mail report that the Magpies have not been in contact about our no.37.

The winger scored 15 goals last season, and although Steve Bruce would like to keep him, the club’s financial situation may mean he will be sold this summer.

Adomah would have been given a new contract if we had been promoted, and the 30-year-old seems keen to stay put at Villa Park, but his future is not down to him.

With his form trailing off at the end of last season, I do understand the view that his departure wouldn’t be seen as such a big loss, especially with youngsters such as Andre Green and Corey Blackett-Taylor likely to be given opportunities instead.

Yet, losing our top scorer shouldn’t be quickly dismissed. We’ve also lost Lewis Grabban who chipped in with a number of important goals during his six-month loan spell, and with the manager suggesting Jonathan Kodjia is up for sale too, Adomah’s departure would take even more goals out of the team.

It depends how much we are offered for the Ghanaian international. If it can help us massively improve our financial situation I would be all for it, but if bids are very much on the low side, would selling the wide man be worthwhile? Let me know in the poll:
