Paul Lambert looks set to have a host of expected doubts back for Fulham, but it doesn’t look so bright for Clarkie.
It’s expected we will have Stephen Ireland, Joe Bennett and Karim El Ahmadi back in contention for the Fulham game but Clark will undergo a late fitness test before a decision is made on him.
Ireland should have recovered enough – with the help of a brace – from the broken bone in his wrist which he sustained against Southampton, and after being stitched up Bennett should be fine aswell. KEA’s doubt from international duty turned out to be precautionary as he had cramp.
Leaving Lambert only to assess the ‘freshness’ of Brad Guzan, Brett Holman and Christian Benteke.
Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer said:
‘I will see how the lads are, some can be more tired than others. There are one or two selection things to look at.’
As for Clarkie, Lambert said he has suffered a slight knock:
‘I think the way Ciaran has been playing, he’s doing really well. He’s been excellent this season and his partnership with Ron Vlaar has been great.’
Should Clarkie not pass the late fitness test, you would guess Nathan Baker would be given another crack to impress.
