Aston Villa’s Academy graduate Keinan Davis has only made one appearance for the club so far in the campaign of 2018/19 as a series of niggly injuries have kept him out of contention once again.
Having made his solitary appearance in the early January defeat to Swansea City, he has again been sidelined with a long term problem, and head coach Dean Smith has now given an update on him.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Smith revealed that his latest omission was again due to a pelvis problem that has dogged him for some time.
“He has not trained this week because of a problem in his pelvis. It has been niggling away at him. He has played through it at times and then found he is in too much pain. It has been harder for Keinan to get the pitch time we would like. He has not been on the bench because of that.”
The same issue was what sidelined him in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign and with plenty of fans wondering about his whereabouts in recent times, they probably won’t take much solace from Smith’s confirmation as plenty have wanted to see him take a spot on the bench to provide an alternative option – despite how well in general on loan Tammy Abraham has done for us.
Hopefully, the 21-year-old can get himself clear and have a stronger end to the campaign to get him back on track, as looking ahead to next season, he could definitely have a part to play given all the changes that are expected over the summer.
