Most Aston Villa fans are eagerly anticipating our third signing of the summer, but yesterday afternoon the club confirmed that there had been another departure and Academy graduate Seb Revan will now hopefully experience a promotion push at Grimsby Town.

The 18-year-old versatile defender will spend the season with the newly relegated National League side as they look to return to League Two at the first time of asking. It will be his first taste of senior football as he steps up from a good season of involvement with our Under 23 group and he was part of the squad that lifted the FA Youth Cup last season as well.

We again hold a recall option on him for January if we feel he’s not getting enough game time for his development, but given he can play anywhere across the backline, I imagine he’ll get good minutes under Paul Hurst.
