Aston Villa’s social media team sent out a pretty innocuous tweet yesterday…
Happy 144th birthday to us ????

I’m not sure it needs explaining further really, so otherwise, this would make for an incredibly short article but looking amongst the obvious reactions from fans and others, one response on social media took me back to happier days.

King Carlos Cuellar had mixed times with us as a player following his arrival from Rangers. He was an incredible one season wonder at Ibrox before Martin O’Neill brought him down to B6 in August of 2008 but his four spell saw him just eek over the 100 appearance mark. Despite that, he was firmly a fan favourite.
Whatever the discussions that can be had about the Spaniard, few can fault his commitment to our cause and in my own humble if we could’ve bottled some of that attitude in the years since his departure for Sunderland back in 2012, maybe our own recent history would’ve been a little different.
Are you free Sunday mate ??
