Ok, not sure how this will go down, but lets give it a whirl.

Been thinking about the Paul Birch situation and his fight against bone cancer. I think the Former Players Association are doing a great job at trying to raise money and can’t see why we can’t all get stuck in and help? Villa is a family after all.

There is a Paul Birch Trust set up and run by the Former Players Association with the aim of ensuring a better quality of life for Paul and his 10-year-old daughter.

So how about this. Vital Villa readers, make donations and if through that we can raise £500 I’ll match it and put in another £500.

We all sing his name at the games, so maybe we could put just that little bit of money where our mouths are? A thousand squid between us all is doable isn’t it?

You can send donations via paypal to me and I will then do the one lump payment to the Paul Birch Trust: www.paypal.com account: jonathan.fear@virgin.net or cheques made payable to the Paul Birch Trust to JP Fear, 2 Oversley Close, Redditch, Worc, B97 6GW and I will forward them on.

You can send the cheques straight to Paul Birch Trust, Aston Villa FC, Villa Park, Birmingham, B6 6HE as well, but then I’ll not know what has been donated so won’t know when we have reached the £500 mark for me to double the donations.

If anyone has already sent a cheque following this article, just email me to let me know the donation and I can add that to the tally. Charity Begins At Villa Park… Apparently

I will keep a running total on this article until we reach £500 and then once that has been matched and donated, maybe Birchy will give this site a quick interview.
